Why AgileAcoustics’ Acoustic Pods Outperform the Competition with Ply Timber Construction

Acoustic pods have become essential in today's open-plan workspaces, offering employees a refuge from noise while maintaining the collaborative spirit of modern office design. However, not all acoustic pods are created equal. At AgileAcoustics, we’re committed to delivering superior soundproofing and acoustic comfort in our AgilePOD range, and one of our most distinct advantages is our choice of construction materials. Unlike other manufacturers who rely on aluminium profile sections, we manufacture ply timber sub-sections, which enable us to create superior acoustic pods with advanced sound-dampening capabilities. Here’s why our approach makes all the difference.

The Superiority of Ply Timber in Acoustic Design

While aluminium has been a popular choice for its durability and lightweight properties, the wall sections can fall short in terms of acoustic performance. Ply timber construction, on the other hand, offers a range of benefits that make it a far better choice for acoustic applications.

  • Density and Rigidity: Ply timber has a natural density that helps to reduce sound transmission through its structure. Unlike aluminium, which can reflect and amplify sound, ply timber helps absorb and diffuse sound waves.

  • Environmental Benefits: Ply timber is a sustainable choice compared to aluminium, which requires intensive processing. Our commitment to using eco-friendly materials means we can offer pods that are not only high-performance but also environmentally responsible.

The Role of Air Gaps in Acoustic Performance

One of the key factors in our design is the incorporation of air gaps, which play a critical role in enhancing sound insulation and reducing noise transmission. But why are these air gaps so important?

How Air Gaps Work in Acoustic Insulation

When sound waves travel through a medium, such as a wall, they lose energy as they pass through dense materials. However, when there are air gaps within that structure, sound waves are further diffused, as they encounter an abrupt change in medium. This transition between solid materials and air causes sound waves to lose additional energy, reducing the intensity of the noise.

By upholstering our ply timber sections with beautiful wool facia fabrics, we’re able to create controlled air gaps between the layers. This “sandwich” structure traps sound energy in the air pockets, further dampening noise and enhancing our AgilePOD soundproofing capabilities.

How Ply Timber Enables Better Acoustic Pod Design

With ply timber sub-sections, AgileAcoustics has the flexibility to strategically place air gaps where they’re most effective, allowing for a pod structure that performs better than aluminium-based designs. Here’s how ply timber offers unique advantages over aluminium profiles:

  • Flexible Construction: Ply timber can be shaped and layered in ways that aren’t feasible with rigid aluminium profiles. This flexibility allows us to create precise air gaps by strategically layering upholstered sections, which is key to improving acoustic absorption.

  • Enhanced Upholstery Compatibility: Upholstering aluminium profile sections can be challenging and may require additional materials or adhesives. In contrast, ply timber’s natural surface is ideal for upholstery, enabling us to cover each section in high-quality acoustic fabrics that improve the pod’s soundproofing properties.

  • Durability and Performance: While some may assume that aluminium pods are more durable, ply timber offers impressive strength and resilience, especially when it’s treated and finished appropriately. Our ply timber constructed pods not only provide better acoustics but also retain their integrity over time, even with frequent use.

Why AgileAcoustics Pods Excel in Noise Reduction

The combination of ply timber sub-sections and precisely engineered air gaps enables our acoustic pods to achieve superior sound reduction and absorption. Here’s a closer look at the tangible benefits:

  • Reduced Reverberation: The carefully crafted air gaps within the ply timber construction help reduce reverberation within the pod. This creates a quieter, more comfortable environment where employees can focus without distractions.

  • Improved Speech Privacy: Acoustic pods are often used for private conversations, meetings, and phone calls. By minimising sound transmission through the pod walls, our ply timber pods offer better privacy compared to aluminium profile constructed pods, where it's not possible to create wall sections with air gaps.

  • Enhanced User Comfort: With improved noise reduction and minimised external distractions, AgileAcoustics’ ply timber pods provide a noticeably better user experience. Employees can enjoy a calm, quiet space to recharge or concentrate, resulting in higher productivity and comfort levels.

Ply Timber and AgileAcoustics: A Better Approach to Acoustic Pods

AgileAcoustics has chosen to prioritise acoustic performance and user experience by becoming experts in ply timber constructed pods. By combining this versatile material with the power of air gaps and high-quality upholstery, we’re able to deliver pods that truly stand out in the market.

Conclusion

When it comes to acoustic pod design, the choice of materials matters more than most realise. AgileAcoustics’ dedication to ply timber construction with strategically placed air gaps puts us at the forefront of high-performance acoustic pod technology. Our pods don’t just meet basic acoustic needs—they excel at creating quiet, comfortable, and sustainable spaces for modern work environments.

Why Hybrid Acoustic Pods Are Sometimes Better Than Fully Enclosed Pods

In today's dynamic work environments, where flexibility, comfort, and productivity are paramount, choosing the right acoustic solution for your office space can be a game-changer. While fully enclosed pods have gained popularity for their ability to provide complete isolation from surrounding noise, hybrid acoustic pods offer a compelling alternative. These semi-enclosed spaces combine the benefits of privacy with the openness that many modern workspaces require. Modulise, the new modular acoustic system by AgileAcoustics might be a good option.

Balancing Privacy and Collaboration

One of the primary reasons hybrid acoustic pods excel in certain environments is their ability to strike a balance between privacy and collaboration. Fully enclosed pods create a secluded space that can sometimes feel too isolated, especially in open-plan offices designed to foster teamwork. Hybrid pods, on the other hand, offer a semi-enclosed design that provides a degree of acoustic privacy without completely cutting off the user from their surroundings. This design encourages spontaneous collaboration and communication, allowing employees to easily engage with colleagues when needed. Include Modulise Pergola pic. Enhanced Airflow and Comfort

Fully enclosed pods, while effective at blocking out noise, can sometimes create a stuffy or claustrophobic environment due to limited airflow. This can lead to discomfort, especially during prolonged use. Hybrid acoustic pods typically feature open ceilings or partially open walls, promoting better air circulation. This design not only enhances comfort but also ensures that employees don't feel trapped inside a small, confined space. The improved airflow can also contribute to a healthier work environment by reducing the buildup of CO2 levels inside the pod.

Aesthetic Integration with Open-Plan Designs

In modern office settings, aesthetics plays a crucial role in creating a cohesive and visually appealing workspace. Fully enclosed pods can sometimes appear as bulky, standalone units that disrupt the flow of an open-plan office. Hybrid acoustic pods, with their more open design, can seamlessly integrate into the overall office layout. Their less intrusive appearance allows them to blend in with the surrounding environment, maintaining the open, airy feel of the space while still providing areas for focused work. Flexibility and Adaptability

Workspaces are evolving to accommodate a variety of work styles, and hybrid acoustic pods offer the flexibility to adapt to these changes. Fully enclosed pods are often designed for specific uses, such as phone calls or deep focus work, limiting their versatility. Hybrid pods, however, can be used for a wider range of activities. They can serve as informal meeting spaces, quiet zones for focused work, or even collaborative hubs for small teams. Their adaptable nature makes them a valuable addition to any workspace, especially in environments where the needs of employees are constantly changing.

Acoustic Performance Without Complete Isolation

While fully enclosed pods offer superior sound isolation, they can sometimes create an unnatural acoustic environment by eliminating all background noise. This can be disorienting for some users and may even reduce productivity. Hybrid acoustic booths, on the other hand, provide sufficient noise reduction while still allowing some ambient sound to filter through. This creates a more natural acoustic environment, helping employees stay connected to the overall office atmosphere while still enjoying a quieter space to work.

Encouraging Spontaneity and Creativity

In many creative and collaborative work environments, the ability to think freely and engage in spontaneous discussions is crucial. Fully enclosed pods can create a barrier to this spontaneity by making interactions more formal and less accessible. Hybrid acoustic pods, with their open design, encourage a free flow of ideas by making it easier for employees to enter and exit the space. This can lead to more frequent and informal interactions, fostering creativity and innovation within the team.

We’re a fan of both solutions

While fully enclosed pods have their place in certain work environments, hybrid acoustic booths offer a versatile and often superior solution in many modern office spaces. By balancing privacy with openness, enhancing comfort and airflow, integrating seamlessly with open-plan designs, and offering flexibility and cost-effectiveness, hybrid pods cater to the evolving needs of today's workforce. For organisations looking to create a dynamic, comfortable, and productive work environment, hybrid acoustic pods may be the ideal choice. And don’t forget to check out Modulise while you are here.

The Importance of Soundproof Office Pods in Modern Workspaces

In today's fast-paced, open-plan office environments, distractions are a constant hurdle to productivity. The buzz of conversations, the hum of office equipment, and the general hustle and bustle can create a challenging atmosphere for employees who need to focus on complex tasks. Enter soundproof office pods, a revolutionary solution designed to address these issues. Let's delve into why these pods are becoming essential in modern workspaces.

It's worth noting that AgileAcoustics don’t make 100% soundproof Pods. As a business, we work with many public sector and University clients, and their number 1 priority is that their users can hear a building fire alarm when using AgilePODs – not something most buyers consider when researching the market.

Enhanced Productivity and Focus

One of the primary benefits of soundproof office pods is their ability to significantly enhance productivity and focus. According to a study by the University of California, Irvine, it takes an average of 23 minutes to regain focus after a distraction. In a typical open-plan office, these interruptions are frequent, leading to substantial productivity losses. Soundproof pods provide a quiet sanctuary where employees can work without interruptions, leading to better concentration and higher quality of work.

Improved Employee Well-being

Noise pollution in the workplace is not just a distraction; it's a potential health issue. Continuous exposure to high levels of noise can lead to stress and anxiety. Soundproof office pods offer a respite from the auditory assault of a busy office, creating a peaceful environment that can help reduce stress and improve overall well-being. Employees who have access to quiet spaces are likely to experience lower stress levels, which can lead to higher job satisfaction and reduced turnover rates.

Flexible and Versatile Workspaces

Sound proof office pods are incredibly versatile. They can be used for a variety of purposes, such as private meetings, phone calls, video conferences, or simply as a quiet place for focused work. Their modular nature allows them to be easily relocated and reconfigured to meet the changing needs of the office. This flexibility is particularly valuable in today’s dynamic work environment, where adaptability is key. Check out our Modulise system if you are looking for a hybrid Pod or space.

Enhanced Privacy and Confidentiality

In many workspaces, confidentiality is crucial. Whether it’s discussing sensitive business strategies, conducting employee reviews, or handling confidential client information, having a private space is essential. Soundproof pods ensure that conversations are kept private, preventing sensitive information from being overheard by others. This level of privacy can be difficult to achieve in traditional open-plan offices, making acoustic pods an asset.

Cost-Effective Solution

Constructing traditional private offices can be costly and time-consuming. Soundproof office pods offer a more cost-effective alternative. They are often more affordable than permanent construction and can be installed with minimal disruption to the workplace. Additionally, their portability means they can be moved or reconfigured as needed, providing long-term value and flexibility.

Support for Hybrid Work Models

As hybrid work models become more prevalent, with employees splitting their time between home and the office, the need for flexible workspaces has grown. Soundproof office pods can accommodate various work styles and preferences, making them an ideal solution for hybrid work environments. They provide a dedicated space for employees who need to focus when they are in the office, complementing the quieter home office setting.

In Summary

Soundproof office pods are more than just a trend; they are a practical solution to many of the challenges faced in modern workspaces. By enhancing productivity, improving employee well-being, offering flexibility, ensuring privacy, and providing a cost-effective alternative to traditional office construction, these pods are transforming the way we work. As businesses continue to evolve and adapt to new work models, the importance of creating environments that support focus, privacy, and well-being cannot be overstated. Acoustic office pods are proving to be an invaluable addition to the contemporary office landscape, paving the way for a more productive and harmonious workplace where people want to work!

Creating Safe Spaces: The Essential Role of Dens for Primary School Children with Special Educational Needs

For a couple of years, schools have reached out to us, expressing their need for an acoustic pod or den for their children. Unfortunately, we haven't had the time to develop such a product until now. Recently, Anna, a Head Teacher in Liverpool, shared her compelling story with us, highlighting the urgent need for a safe space for her children. Inspired by her dedication, we decided to create our first AgileSAFESPACE - a pod that can be shipped flatpack and self-installed to reduce install costs. And it’s as easy as building an IKEA product!

Here’s why a product like this can be an invaluable tool in a primary school environment.

In the bustling environment of a primary school, it is vital to create spaces where all children feel safe, understood, and supported. This is especially true for children with special educational needs (SEN). Providing a designated safe space or "den" can significantly enhance their learning experience and overall well-being.

Understanding the Unique Needs of SEN Children

Children with special educational needs often face unique challenges in a traditional classroom setting. These can range from sensory overload and communication difficulties to heightened anxiety and behavioural issues. The typical classroom environment, with its noise, movement, and complex social interactions, can be overwhelming for these children.

The Role of a Safe Space

A safe space or den serves as a retreat where SEN children can escape the overstimulation of the classroom. These areas are designed to be calming and comforting, often equipped with soft lighting, sensory tools, and comfortable seating. The purpose is to create an environment that reduces anxiety and helps children regulate their emotions.

Key Benefits of Safe Spaces:

  1. Emotional Regulation: Safe spaces allow children to take a break when they feel overwhelmed. This helps them learn to recognise their emotions and develop coping strategies, which are essential skills for emotional regulation.

  2. Sensory Processing: For children with sensory processing issues, a den can provide a controlled environment where they can engage with sensory tools at their own pace. This helps them manage sensory input more effectively.

  3. Behavioural Support: When children have a designated area to retreat to, it can prevent behavioural outbursts in the classroom. Knowing they have a safe space can reduce anxiety and improve behaviour.

  4. Individualised Learning: Safe spaces can also be used for individualised learning sessions. Here, children can receive one-on-one support tailored to their specific needs without the distractions of a busy classroom.

  5. Building Trust and Independence: Having access to a safe space can build trust between students and teachers. It demonstrates that their needs are recognised and respected. Over time, this can foster greater independence and confidence in SEN children.

Creating safe spaces for primary school children with special educational needs goes beyond compassion; it's a practical strategy that bolsters their academic and emotional growth. By offering a dedicated area where these children can feel secure and understood, schools can cultivate an inclusive environment where every student can thrive. Safe spaces are not merely refuges; they are foundational steps towards a more empathetic and effective educational system. Much like our accessible Pod range, AgileAcoustics is eager to develop solutions that address this critical need in the education sector.

AgileCAMPER Acoustic Pods: A talking point for your space?

Anyone who keeps up with the comings and goings here at AgileAcoustics will know that ‘innovation’ is a buzzword of ours at our Yorkshire, Salts Mill HQ.

The thing is, while we already have a vast product range, we’re not about to rest on our laurels; we simply must keep developing new concepts that will ultimately make our clients’ lives easier.

So, what’s next on our list then?

Not content with creating a line of practical pods for spaces, such as offices and education  spaces, we’ve gone a little bit quirky with our latest innovation – an AgileCAMPER acoustic pod.

The concept’s been on our mind for some time, so we took to LinkedIn to see what our friends and followers over on the business networking site thought of the idea.

Here’s what we wrote, accompanied by the below picture:

‘Do you like our AgileCAMPER Acoustic Pod Concept? Should we put it into our AgilePOD range? Feedback from workplace experts, facilities gurus, interior designers & camper van geeks would be really appreciated. We’ve got 20 camper-themed mobile phone desk stands to give away to those who leave the most insightful feedback so get commenting. Thank you!

#workplace #acoustics #pods #agileworking #hybridwork #videocall

https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6901539844573544448/

Of course, the comments came flooding in; we knew many of you would love the idea of our AgileCAMPER pod, but we didn’t realise quite how many big-name companies would get in touch to express their interest too.

So, why choose a pod like this from AgileAcoustics?

First of all, it makes a great talking point for your space – whether you use it in a breakout area or a foyer. But let’s not forget its acoustic properties too.

Helping to reduce echo and reverberation in the workplace or in a education setting, it’s a great place to host a meeting, take a phone call or relax with colleagues or friends.

Within hardly any time at all, we’d heard from Flutter Entertainment, Adidas, Zurich Insurance and Yorkshire Water via LinkedIn – and while they weren’t all in the market for our camper-inspired pods, the post received some interest nonetheless, with a host of companies enquiring about our other acoustic products.

“Reading the feedback, I think there is a real appetite for more fun products like this.” says Stuart Jones, CEO here at AgileAcoustics.

The attention we received as a result of that post alone has got us thinking up other quirky ideas we could push out there. For example, we’re looking at developing a black London cab acoustic pod for one of the clients who contacted us on the back of the LinkedIn post we published – the possibilities really are endless.

Customisable Pods for Any Space

Our acoustic pods can even be manufactured in your company’s colours – as well as featuring your logo – to ensure they perfectly complement your space, however and wherever you plan to use them.

Want to chat to us about a unique concept or two for your own business? No idea is too out there – trust us. Say hello to the AgileAcoustics team here via our website and let’s have a chat.

AgilePODS: How We Make Them Inclusive and Accessible

It’s hugely important to us that everyone can benefit from our acoustic pods; it’s just one of the many reasons we work so hard behind the scenes here at AgileAcoustics.

How do we ensure our AgilePODs are inclusive and accessible then?

For starters, acoustic pods that are flush with the floor are made with wheelchair users in mind, too, with the openings of AgilePODs being around 900mm wide. That way, anyone who uses a wheelchair to get around will find it’s always a breeze to get in and out of our pods and enjoy a meeting free from distractions.

Plus, in our larger pods – AgilePOD#1 and AgilePOD#5 – wheelchair users have the space to exit forwards and in reverse.

For the interior and colour contrast, we offer a vast range of fabric shades, to ensure those who are visually impaired can make the most of our pods with few disturbances. Contrasting the shades with the colours on the floor space – for example, grey walls and grey floor coverings simply won’t work – we offer a whole host of combinations that will stand out for all the right reasons.

Our wall sockets also come in different colours to ensure 30 LRV BS8300 visual guidelines are always met

Folding Desks for Even Easier Access for All

We ensure the desks within the pods are at least 700mm high, too. Some are as high as 800mm – and in our AgilePOD#6, the desk folds away for even easier access.

When it comes to lighting, we can supply pods with a handy timer cut-off, ensuring anyone can set the lights to automatically turn off after a set time period. For neurodivergent and visually impaired users, dimmed lighting can be fitted to allow the lighting to be adjusted to meet everyone’s needs.

AgilePODs allow users to have their back to the outside world, but we also appreciate that, within the neurodivergent community, this may not always offer the best level of comfort. With that in mind, we can manufacture pods that allow users to sit to the side, or even, in our larger, two-person pods (thanks to the addition of loose furniture), choose a position to work from that suits them.

Can we improve our pods further still? Let us Know…

Inclusivity and accessibility have always been key considerations here at AgileAcoustics.

Of course, we are still learning lots about this very important requirement – and if you think we can improve any of our acoustic pods, we would love to hear from you via email (hello@AgileAcoustics.co.uk) or telephone (01274 669823).

Want to transform your office? AgilePODs Vs Glass Acoustic Pods

We know we’re slightly biased, but here at AgileAcoustics, we say our AgilePOD – an upholstered acoustic pod – offers many more benefits than the traditional glass acoustic pods you so often see in office settings.

First, our AgilePOD has excellent acoustic credentials, both on the inside and outside of the work pod. What that means for you is, as well as looking great, it also improves the acoustics of an open plan space.

A pop-up, fully powered working pod, the AgilePOD is designed to transform your space with ease. The work pods can even be moved around from room to room, should you want to transport them around your office building. They are also available in a wealth of colours, to ensure they perfectly complement your brand colours.

Impressive Echo and Reverberation

The acoustic benefits were highlighted by our client at Calderdale Council, where we recently installed 4no. Pod#1s in their Bank Hall space, situated at Princess Buildings in Halifax.

Not only did they comment that their colleagues loved working inside the Pods, but they were also really impressed by the reduction in echo and reverberation time in their large Bank Hall office space. Previously, it was an extremely echoey space and our pods have now made all the difference to the team’s work environment.

Our clients also comment that they feel cocooned inside our AgilePODs, while the acoustics are, of course, fantastic. While we’re sure that the acoustics are also pretty good in glass pods, there is no denying that the use of glass on the interior walls must make the spaces slightly reverberant inside.

Add to that the lack of privacy – and a feeling like you are in a goldfish bowl – and you can see why people who choose a glass pod may be envious of those who selected one of our upholstered pods.

Don’t Envy Those with an Upholstered AgilePOD; Get One For Yourself!

We acknowledge that the AgilePOD has a large door aperture (designed for wheelchair access, ventilation and fire reasons), and some clients initially question this. But once they have lived with a Pod – and discovered how easy they are to enter, use and move around a space – they quickly become firm fans of the AgileAcoustics AgilePOD.

Get in Touch to Learn More

Our current fans include councils, colleges, universities and corporate clients.

If you would like to find out more, please get in touch with our friendly team; we’d love to demo a Pod via a Microsoft Teams or Zoom video call if you can spare 10 minutes. We assure you it will be a very worthwhile 10 minutes – let’s chat!

Meet an Innovation that Could Revolutionise How You Work

Whether you’re preparing for a post-Covid-19 return to the office or you’ve yet to leave your business premises during the pandemic, may we introduce you to an innovation that may revolutionise the way you work?

Meet…AgileAcoustics’ AgilePOD – a futuristic-looking offering from our talented team of designers and manufacturers.

What is it exactly?

The AgilePOD is a stylish, pop-up, powered acoustic pod that gives your employees a chance to work away from the hustle and bustle of your main office.

It’s also ideal for a comfortable and practical meeting with clients or even a video call, when noise reduction is key. With optimum noise-cancelling properties (you really wouldn’t expect any less though, would you?), it’s yet another design from our Salts Mill headquarters that marries style with functionality.

The two-person acoustic pod has a cocoon-like design and it can complement your office décor, thanks to the fact that it’s available in a host of colours.

As ever, you can choose a colour from the Abraham Moon & Sons’ or Camira collections – and you can also incorporate your company logo and branding onto the pod. Here is one of our pods in all its glory…

AgilePOD_09.jpg

The AgilePOD you see above is one of four bespoke pods we created for the London HQ of global communications agency, Edelman.

With over 6,000 members of staff across 60 offices, Edelman delivers communication strategies to a wealth of clients. They founded in 1952 and have remained an independent, family-run company – with lots of forward-thinking ideas.

“We were thrilled to partner with Edelman recently,” says AgileAcoustics’ Managing Director, Stuart Jones. “They’re a great company who are keen on ensuring their employees can work in a comfortable space that meets everyone’s needs.”

Antony Wiltshire, Director of Workplace and Facilities UK&I told us he loved the new additions to the office. He snapped them up almost immediately after we sent out some brief details – and he tells us his colleagues will also love them when they return to the office very soon.

Keeping noise and reverb to a minimum, the AgilePODs don’t just look great; they make catching up with a workmate or joining an online call smooth and stress-free too.

Creating Cosy Spaces for Our Healthcare Heroes

The AgilePODs are proving so popular that a global online auction business has been in touch about the possibility of us kitting out their spaces, alongside an international telecoms business. Both companies are looking at using our pods in their offices around the world.

Meanwhile, we’ve received interest from the NHS, too, and we’d love to get to work creating cosy spaces for our healthcare heroes who continue to work tirelessly on the frontline.

Keen to hear more about the AgilePOD? Head here for more information and do not hesitate to get in touch with our team, who will be more than happy to tell you why our unique innovation will work well in your space, too.

Keeping Your Employees Safe During the Pandemic: Here’s How…

Want to know how to keep your employees and clients as safe as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic? You need the AgileWRAPAROUND – a brand-new innovation from the AgileAcoustics team here in Bradford.

That’s right; we’ve been working hard behind the scenes yet again, creating another winning solution that will help you work smarter – and, more importantly, safer.

AgileWRAPAROUND_LR_06.jpg

So, what is the AgileWRAPAROUND?

It’s a protective screen which can be used to great effect during the pandemic to keep anyone who works from (or visits) your premises safe.

A stylish, colourful and practical solution, it – like the rest of our hard-working innovations – offers optimum sound absorption properties to decrease echo and reverberation in your workplace. Exclusive to AgileAcoustics (registered design pending), the AgileWRAPAROUND has been specially developed by our design team as both a ‘return to work’ and ‘work from home’ acoustic desk screen product.

It’s a handy alternative to the see-through Perspex-style screens you may have seen online or in person – and the WRAPAROUND, as the name suggests, is easy to position on desks and can be tailored to suit each employee’s requirements.

AgileWRAPAROUND_LR_09.jpg

Simple to Install and Easy to Transport

There are more benefits besides those, of course! The AgileWRAPAROUND COVID-19 protective screen for desks is also easy to install or dismantle. Folding into a small cube for storage or transportation, it can be moved around your office or building with ease.

It comes with an NHS-approved, 30-day antimicrobial surface, too – and the surface can be re-treated as required to ensure maximum efficiency. Providing your workforce or on-site visitors with a fantastic acoustic environment in which to work or hold video conference calls, we don’t mean to boast when we say our screens are superior to Perspex and glass screens.

The reason for this is that Perspex and other plastic screens tend to be very reflective/reverberant, which can mean your space will suffer from increased echo or reverberation. Of course, this isn’t what you want when you’re chatting to clients on the phone, holding a team meeting or simply trying to knuckle down to some work.

AgileWRAPAROUND_LR_02.jpg

What are the specifications of the AgileWRAPAROUND?

With a length of 2400mm, a height of 625mm and a depth of 25mm, our standard protective COVID-19 screens fit most desks. That said, bespoke sizes can be made to order as well.

With an acoustic performance of Class B, our germ-free screens can be re-treated with the antibacterial surface treatment, as required – chat to us about our spray treatment, which we sell separately.

Pick a Colour, Any Colour…

The best bit? Your protective desk screens can complement your workspace, thanks to our wide range of fabric and wool shades from our trusted suppliers, Abraham Moon & Sons, and Camira Fabrics.

Here’s a Smarter Way to Organise Your Office Essentials…Say Hello to the AgileSHELF

Anyone who reads our blog posts regularly will know we love nothing more than coming up with new and exciting concepts with business owners in mind. It’s our aim to make your working life easier, while ensuring your office, boardroom or breakout area always looks the part and offers unrivalled sound absorbing qualities.

With that in mind…allow us to introduce the latest innovation direct from AgileAcoustics’ new Salts Mill-based HQ: the AgileSHELF. But this isn’t just any shelf *puts on sultry M&S advert voice*…this is an aesthetically pleasing yet practical design which can benefit pretty much any space.

Reposition Your AgileSHELF in Seconds

What’s that, you say? All shelves are practical? They are indeed. But the AgileSHELF can be repositioned in mere seconds, thanks to its slotted acoustic fascia. So, when you fancy rejigging your workspace and changing the height of your individual shelves, that’s absolutely no problem.

Let’s not forget the unique sound absorption properties of these shelves, too. Well, it wouldn’t be an AgileAcoustics’ product if it didn’t make your workspace more comfortable by reducing sound reverberation. Let’s take a closer look at the AgileSHELF and how it can work for you…

AgileSHELF.jpg

As you can see, the slotted acoustic fascia is designed with our moveable shelves in mind. Extremely easy to install, the shelves themselves are attached to complementing, coloured wood panels, featuring convenient slots for easy hanging of your AgileSHELF.

As is the case with all AgileAcoustics’ innovations, you can choose your acoustic shelves in shades that perfectly match your décor – and we can tailor the product, if required, to fit just about any space.

Produced with organic dyes and ideal for interior use, the acoustic panels, fretwork fascia and shelves are ecologically friendly and can be used in all kinds of settings, from boardrooms and office rooms to open plan areas and co-working spaces – and their USP is their optimum functionality.

Design Your Own Scheme

With four screws per acoustic panel, the moveable shelves can simply be lifted and slotted into another fascia, with the design and colours completely driven by you: our loyal clients. If required, we can change the design of the shelves and the acoustic panels they’re attached to.

AgileSHELF_closeup.jpg

Lightweight and easy to attach, the shelves are perfect for storing and displaying stationery, plants or other decorative items.

Our founder, Stuart Jones, is thrilled with this latest innovation from the team: “We only launched the AgileSHELF a fortnight or so ago and we’ve been inundated with enquiries already – we haven’t even had time to get the product live on the site; the enquiries were a result of an email sent to existing clients! We couldn’t be more pleased with the feedback the product’s been getting, with an enquiry from as far away as the Middle East.”

What’s next for AgileAcoustics? Watch this Space

So, what’s next for the hard-working AgileAcoustics team? After last year’s 50 Products in 50 Weeks challenge, you think we’d be done on the innovation front for a little while. But that isn’t the case, with new products on the way very soon – watch this space.

Want to know more about how the AgileSHELF might work for your space? Get in touch with our team and we’d be more than happy to send you some more details.

We’ve Moved! Learn More About AgileAcoustics’ New HQ

3352031870_3d3423e02b_b.jpg

If you stumbled upon our recent feature on the Workplace Insight site, you’ll have known all about the new AgileAcoustics’ HQ well before we packed up our desks and moved into it. But if not, we can now officially announce that we’re based at the beautiful Salts Mill in West Yorkshire’s Saltaire!

A World Heritage site, the building perfectly complements the work we do here. In fact, we couldn’t think of a better place to design and manufacture our acoustic tiles and products than under its Northern Light windows.

“Everyone here has been brilliant”, says our founder, Stuart Jones. “There’s a real community feel here and the mill owners have worked so hard to get us in. It was just an empty shed when we moved in – as soon as we saw the light streaming in through the windows, we knew this was the place for us.”

The team has been so busy getting set up in our new home, though, that we haven’t yet had time to ensure the space is free from echo and reverberation. Stuart continues: “It’s certainly a talking point when people ring the office for a quote and our own acoustics aren’t up to scratch. It’s testament to how busy we’ve been lately!”

Feeling at Home

We believe that you should feel at home at work – and because we like to practise what we preach, we’ve spent some time creating a space we love. It’s also a space that’s in keeping with the products we create.

While we only set up home at Salts Mill in September this year, we already feel part of the furniture, having met many of our neighbours. We’re also in talks with the venue to design some bespoke acoustic tiles for Salts Mill’s own dining area, to ensure the space offers an even more pleasurable experience for everyone who visits it.

Refurbishing a 6000 square foot mill area that was mothballed many years ago, Stuart and our team have breathed some much-needed life back into the space. A former textile mill, Salts Mill now houses an art gallery, shopping centre and restaurant complex. It was built by Sir Titus Salt in 1853 and thanks to its rich manufacturing heritage, it’s already inspiring the AgileAcoustics team when it comes to new products and acoustic innovations.

Come and Say Hello

Not yet paid us a visit in our new Salts Mill headquarters? We can’t wait to welcome you to the office. You can find us at Shed 26, Salts Mill, Salts Mill Road, Saltaire, West Yorkshire, BD18 3LA (for post) or BD17 7EZ (for Sat Navs). In the meantime, why not say hello here

Don’t forget to keep an eye on our 50 Products Challenge, too. It’s a New Year’s resolution we ambitiously set for ourselves at the beginning of 2019 – and it’s seen us create a brand-new AgileAcoustics product each week this year. Yes, really. Find out how we’re getting on.
